Day 1:
The first day begins with your transfer from Marrakesh to the Erg El Jahoudi camp in the Sahara desert. We’ll take you there in a cozy 4×4. It is a long drive through southern Morocco, also crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Mountain Pass. The first and short part of the trip consists of a stop at Ouarzazate, where we’ll have lunch. We then continue our journey through the Draa valley and Zagora, adding another stop for a rest before the longer stage of this day’s journey begins: a 9h drive towards our camp in Erg El Jahoudi. The night will be spent there.
Day 2:
After an extensive breakfast, we walk to Ouedn’Ame, located in the West. This hike leads us over a massive natural plateau. We’ll enjoy our lunch surrounded by acacia trees in nature!
This hike’s destination is the camp site in Ouedn’Ame. We’ll be hiking for approximately 2-4h on this day.
Day 3:
We take our time for breakfast in Ouedn’Ame and then head towards Oued Latache. Along this hike on the sand dunes, there’s a good chance to see wild groups of camels grazing near the tamarisk trees! After this 5h walk, we spend the night in Berber tents.
Day 4:
Breakfast is included in the camp. The 4th day’s hike leads through a remote desert area. Nonetheless, lunch will be had under the palm trees in Fam Tiza! Afterwards, we cross some pretty rocky, tinier hills towards the massive plateau of Chagaga to spend the night there. This day’s hike will take up to 6h.
Day 5:
After breakfast, we again walk over a big plateau to get to the other side of Oued Latache. Lunch will be freshly served there. The forthcoming way leads to Bougarn, our camp site’s location. In total, this day’s hike will take ca. 5h.
Day 6:
For this day, a multifarious trip is planned through the local sand dunes – a breathtaking, silent area – with a stop in Mhamid to freshen up. From there, we continue by 4×4 back zu Ouarzazate. On the way, we collect lunch in Zagora and spend the last night in a three star hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 7:
We’ll have breakfast early in the morning while the crow loads our car. Then we take on the long drive back to Marrakesh, stopping a few times along the way for stunning views and snacks. The drive leads us to the famous UNESCO world heritage site of Aït-Ben-Haddou, a filming location of many big Hollywood productions like Gladiator or HBO’s Game of Thrones. We especially visit the local antique kasbahs (old fortresses). Lunch will be served on the Tizi n’Tichka Mountain Pass, granting wonderful views. After a 6h drive, we arrive in Marrakech, thereby ending our tour.
The tour includes:
– Transfer (here/there) from and to the hotel
– An English and French speaking tour guide
– Overnights in every mentioned lodging
– Donkeys or camels to transport your luggage
– A well-versed cook preparing our meals
– All main meals during the tour (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
The tour does not include:
– Travel insurance
– Flight costs
– Drinks (water, juices, wines etc.)
Confirmation and Payment
25% deposit is necessary to confirm any program. The reservation should be done at least 4 weeks before starting program. Tours booked before that need full payment at the time of booking.
All payments via bank transfer, checks (payable in euros, MAD or US $) and credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discovery or via PayPal are accepted.
