Day 1 : Tangier – Chefchaouen
We start with a drive through the Rif Mountains, passing the lovely city of Tetoune. To fully enjoy the breathtaking view of the landscape, we come to a stop at the root of the hills of Chefchaouen. The city’s older parts are strongly influenced by Spanish architecture, as the city once was a part of the “Spanish Morocco”. Every street and square is packed with unconventional and brightly colored shops and attractions. Furthermore, there are many restaurants and cafés to be found on the city’s roofs! A roof terrace like that is also part of the lovely hotel we’ll be staying in. You are free to relax with a wonderful view in the evening.
Day 2 : Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknès – Fes
After a tasty breakfast, we continue our journey to Volubilis, passing by Ouazan and other villages of Rif. In Volubilis, we’ll explore the ancient Roman ruins and learn about this part of Morocco’s history. Hereafter, we travel to Meknès to have lunch. We also sightsee the historic walls of the old city with its big gate Bab el Mansour and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the late afternoon, we transfer to Fes for an overnight.
Day 3 : Sightseeing in Fes
This day will be spent exploring Morocco’s oldest city: Fes. Taking a walk through its narrow alleys and beautiful streets first, our guided tour begins at the gates of the royal palace, followed by the Jewish district, where the first Mellah was built in the 15th century. We’ll make sure not to forget Fes’ other culturally and historically important places like the Qarawiyīn University, the traditional tanneries and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. You are free to spend the afternoon in the older parts of the city before we have dinner together. The night will be spent in a local hotel.
Day 4: Fes – Merzouga
Our private tour begins with a drive towards the Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane. There, we’ll have the chance to visit the famous Cedar woods, home to the Berber apes. From there, we cross the Tiz Ntalghamt mountain pass and the Ziz gorges. We recommend a stop at this beautiful view with freshly served Moroccan mint tea! Our journey then continues to Merzouga, calling it a day in a local camp.
Day 5 : Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dadès Gorges
We’ll get up early and drive to a nearby hotel to have breakfast and freshen up. Then, our journey continues to Ouarzazate, stopping at the Berber villages in the Todra and Dadès Gorges along the way. We’ll spend the night in a hotel in Dadès, dinner included.
Day 6 : Dadès Gorges – Valley of roses – Ouarzazate – Aït-Ben-Haddou
After breakfast, we continue our drive to Ouarzazate, hence passing the road of thousand kasbahs with a stop in Kalaat Mgouna, the center of the valley of roses (which is known for its annual rose fest). The next stop is the UNESCO world heritage of Aït-Ben-Haddou, where
films like Lawrence of Arabia or Gladiator have been filmed as well as parts of the famous HBO series Game of Thrones.
Day 7 : Aït-Ben-Haddou – Essaouira
After breakfast, we cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass in the Atlas Mountains and Marrakech on our road to the atlantic coast, where Essaouira, the “peal of the Atlantic”, is located. There, we check into a hotel in the afternoon and go for a walk on the city walls, viewing the sunset over
Essaouira – a memory to behold. In the evening, we’ll have fresh fish served for dinner in the town. You’re free to stroll around the serene and picturesque streets of Essaouira before returning to our hotel.
Day 8 : Essaouira
Today you’ll have the chance to extensively explore the old city of Essaouira, also know by its Portuguese name “Mogador”. It’s known as one of the most beautiful coastal cities of the Atlantic: its antique buildings being a painting in blue and white, surrounded by long beaches and the old city walls that stem from the time of the Portuguese colonial rule. We spend the night in a hotel in the city.
Day 9 : Essaouira – Marrakech
The morning is yours in Essaouira. We gather for lunch at the port and then continue our journey to Marrakech, having a few stops on the way. The night will be spent in a hotel in Marrakech.
Day 10 : Marrakech
On this day, a private guide will lead you through the city of Marrakesh, visiting the main attractions and monuments like the Djeema el Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, the local suqs as well as palaces and, possibly, museums. We’ll also have the chance to explore city districts like Gueliz, the gardens of Menara or the Jardin Majorelle.
